John's story
I moved from Sicily to Australia when I was 8 years old.
I was 16 when I got my first job as a waiter at a restaurant in Lilyfield. I only got paid a few dollars a day so I had to make all my money in tips. Norton Street was very vibrant back then, a place for everyone. I started cooking in 1988 and I haven’t looked back. I’ve worked all over Sydney, many of my loyal customers have known me for years and I've watched their kids grow up!
I opened my 7th restaurant in Leichhardt in 2007 called ‘Settimo’ - Italian for 7th. And with a lot of long hours and hard work and maybe all of the lucky 7’s, we're still here.
We treat our customers and staff like family. Come and have a limoncello with me!
